Marcella Polain’s first collection, Dumbstruck (Five Islands Press, 1996), won the Ann Elder Prize. Her novel, The Edge of the World (2007, Fremantle Press), is based on her family’s survival of the Armenian Genocide and was short-listed for a Commonwealth Writer’s Prize. Her latest collection, Therapy like Fish: new and selected poems, was published in 2008 by John Leonard Press, Melbourne. She lectures in the Writing program at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia.
